I love covering indie games, and I especially love when a dev pops into my DMs or email and asks me to check out their game. Sometimes you find something that you’ve never heard of that is a hidden gem. This is exactly what happened when someone from Dazard Studio asked me to check out their new demo for a game called Pieceful. This is a relaxing 3D puzzle game that I hadn’t heard of, and I’m so glad they reached out to me to put it on my radar.
The title gives some of the game away; it’s a game involving pieces, puzzle pieces to be exact. You are given a board where you pop out the pieces to create a 3D version of a variety of animals. I am not sure if you are familiar with this style of puzzle, often made of wood or foam, but I have had the opportunity to build a few things like that during my lifetime and love seeing them come to life.

Each animal has their own set of unique pieces, and you will flip and rotate them to find the correct placement. Once you make your selection of placement, it will lock into place (if correct), and you pick the next one. I realized my spatial awareness wasn’t always the best, but the game is quite forgiving.

If you are stuck and need a hint, which is especially helpful for tiny pieces that you’re not sure of the orientation, the hint system shows you the exact placement of the piece. Once you’ve completed your animal, you can see it come to life in the environment. Collect them all.
With no fail states, timers, or penalties. You can take your time assembling your new menagerie, and I am looking forward to seeing the full game once it launches.

Check out the demo now on Steam and wishlist the game.
Until next time…be good to yourself and be good to each other.
