I’ve always been called a tree hugger. I’m a lover of nature; I even studied land reclamation at university. So, I will always have a soft spot for a game that has me bringing life back to deserted lands. Enter The Regreening, a soil punk fairy tale and cozy sim game, deeply steeped in Baltic folklore.
Developed by Positive Impact Games and published by ByteRockers’ Games, I loved the cycle of cleaning up trash and making the world around me more beautiful.
I recently played the demo, now available on Steam, and found the relationship between the main character and her grandmother to be heartwarming, and it reminded me a little of the relationship with my own Grandmother. While she may not have given me magical gifts, she always had wonderful stories to tell when I was growing up.

The demo for The Regreening plants the seeds for a first taste of what is promised for the full release. Grow plants and create new ecosystems, make friends with ancient spirits, start your own upcycling hub, and hug all the animals.

You will discover new seeds, choosing which plants to use to create the best habitats for each animal. You have a lot of freedom in how to design the space. Water and use your special powers you’ve learned to assist their growth as needed. Harvest the seeds, flowers, and fruit to use in crafting or to give as gifts to animals or friends.

You will befriend ancient spirits through your journeys, and they will reward you with additional abilities in exchange for your help. You will also grow your homestead and house, crafting and decorating to make a space that feels completely yours.

The Regreening is a truly cozy experience; there are no timers or pressure. Every step you take changes the ecosystem around you, and it’s all accompanied by a beautiful soundscape. The nature sounds are perfect.
If you love a cozy eco sim, full of heart and folklore. Or you want to watch desolate lands become lush new landscapes, try the demo for The Regreening and wishlist it now.
Until next time…be good to yourself and be good to each other.
**Special thanks to Pirate PR for putting this demo on my radar**
