Cute cats, Japanese inspired environment and town building mechanics…you KNOW Neko Michi caught my eye when I first saw it. The entire concept of this game is to create a bustling street of cat-run shops, services, and homes to make visiting cats happy and, ultimately, make money and revitalize the town.

You are given a checklist of tasks to complete to finish each level. In the demo level, it is to have 15 cats living in the town, build a tea shop and to complete those 2 tasks within 12 days.

The first building you are tasked to build is a ramen shop. When you build a business, you have some customization with the style and colour of the roof and exterior. Keep this in mind as you progress, as having variety is important to a happy town. Part of starting your ramen shop is also customizing your menu offering, only 1 dish, but you choose the number of each component of the recipe and the price/profit margin of the dish.

Once you start your day, visiting cats will eat at your ramen shop, and if you pay attention, the patrons will let you know what they think of your price and whether they have a preference of the recipe (more or less of the ingredients). At the end of the day, you can modify your recipe and use the money earned to open another business, or a home, or even a park area (complete with adorable scratching posts).

Balancing the needs and wants of the town, along with the happiness level, is all part of the charm. I love games like this.  This super cozy game has adorable graphics and a soundtrack to match. Although the demo is just a singular level, there will be more in the final product, and I can’t wait to check it out once it launches.

Until then…be good to yourself and be good to each other.
